Central interests are treatment of anxiety disorders, metacognitive therapy, the connection between process and outcome in therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and complex systems theory. Also has an interest in statistics and has expertise in network analysis. Main supervisor or co-supervisor on PhD projects that investigate outcomes and mechanisms within a network perspective on mental disorders, eating disorders, family therapy and medically unexplained complaints and symptoms (MUPS). Project manager for “Towards Personalized Treatment a Network Approach”, “MAP-19 (COVID-19) ” and the CIPA study (Mental health during crises).

Head of the research group COPE.The COPE acronym stems from its main areas of investigation. This includes the application and adaptation of complex systems (C) to improve the outcome (O) of psychological treatment, enhance the understanding of the mechanisms interwoven with the maintenance and emergence of psychopathology (P), and involvement in epidemiological (E) mental health studies on the non-clinical general population in order to enhance understanding of critical transitions from healthy to psychopathological states
