Karin I. Rø

Doctoral Candidate, specialist in occupational health.

Karin Isaksson Rø is a specialist in occupational health and also has experience from family medicine and psychiatry. She works as a counsellor for physicians at the Resource Centre for Health personnel Villa Sana, since 2002, as well as conducting lectures and seminars on causes and prevention of burnout for groups of health personnel in Norway. She is presently engaged in a PhD research project doing a follow-up of doctors and nurses who have been at Villa Sana, examining the course of burnout, job stress and mental health in a three-year perspective. Level of burnout is examined in relation to factors in the present situation and to changes made after the intervention that are related to work or to the private situation.

Research interests: The relationship between burnout, job stress and mental health in health personnel. Intervention research.

Academic affiliation: PhD candidate (2009) at the Department of Behavioural Sciences in Medicine, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo. Co-operates with the Research Institute at the Norwegian Medical Association.
