Gry Stålsett

Doctoral Candidate, Specialist in Psychology

Gry Stålsett is widely recognized as an expert in religion and psychology. She helped to start the Norwegian Psychology Religion Forum in 1997, and is one of the architects of a new treatment at Modum Bad, the Vita treatment model which focuses on existential issues. She has been the editor for a special issue in the Journal of the Norwegian association in psychology about religion and psychology. She collaborated on the book "From shame to dignity" (Cambridge University Press, 2003) regarding issues of shame and guilt. Gry gives courses nationally and internationally on psychotherapy and religion, and handling of affect individually and in organizational management. She is on the Board of the National Executive Committee of the Church SOS.

Research Interests: Religion and spirituality in psychotherapy. The impact of patients’ inner representation of God on pathology. Affect organization in psychotherapy and narrative theory.
